Globalization in 21st Century

I had an opportunity to attend a lecture by Mr Tim Cowen, General Counsel and Commercial Director of British Telecom Global. He is here at Chennai along with Andy Green, CEO -BT Global to inaugurate 21CN network.

Tim talked about Globalization from his experience and stating that BT operated in the domestic market in UK 20 years back and how it transformed. He left 2 profound questions with the audience.

1. What would be the charecteristic of 21st Century?
2. What's the Challenge ?

Giving his views about both the above questions, he stated 'interdepence' will be the characteristic of 21st century. He says the defnition of neighbourhood has changed. There may be a friendof yours sitting thousands of miles away and your are connected to him for various reasons.

'Integration' will be a challenge as you need to bring in people from across the countries together to perform a task. You need to handle compliances, regulations, cross-cultures etc.

Talking about China, he stated that it is the Manufacturing Capital of the Globe and attributed that India is going to be the Services Capital of the world.
